Texas State poet Kathleen Peirce gives reading in St. Louis
Poet and Texas State University professor Kathleen Peirce will read from her work at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, for Washington University’s writing program in arts and sciences.
Peirce is the author of four books of poems: Mercy (1991), Divided Touch, Divided Color (1995), The Oval Hour (1999) and The Ardors (2004).
Her numerous awards include the Associated Writing Programs Prize, The Iowa Book Award and The William Carlos Williams Award. She has received fellowships from the Whiting Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation.
Peirce graduated from the Iowa Writers Workshop in 1988. For the past 18 years, she has taught poetry in the creative writing MFA program at Texas State.
