Mottet moves from UTPA to Texas State
Dr. Timothy Mottet will return to Texas State University this July as the new dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication. Mottet will replace long-time dean and faculty member Richard Cheatham.
Mottet was a faculty member in the Department of Communication Studies from 1998 to 2007. During his time at Texas State, he received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Service in 2005, the Presidential Award for Excellence in Research in 2004, and eight College and Department teaching awards.
Mottet will be leaving his post as the chair of the Department of Communication at the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA). He holds the Henry and Margaret Hauser Endowed Chair in Communication there.
His publications include four books, 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and at least 45 conference papers, making him one of the most prolific researchers in Communication Studies.
Mottet earned his BA from William Jewell College, his MS from Boston University, and an Ed.D. from West Virginia University. He is a 2010 graduate of Harvard University’s Management Development Program for higher education leaders.
