Jarrell honored by memorial bridge in Humble
Bevil Jarrell, a Texas State alumnus, was a longtime educator whose influence spanned a generation. This month, the Bevil Jarrell Memorial Bridge, spanning the San Jacinto River, was dedicated in his honor in his native Humble.
After serving in World War II, Jarrell attended Texas State. At the conclusion of his studies, he returned home and became a teacher and coach in the Humble Independent School District.
Jarrell passed away in 2003, and discussions about naming a bridge in his memory started that year.
